Prayer pointers concerning the floods:
We have mentioned before how traumatised our friends in Christ Church New Zealand have been as the result of the serious after shocks following the earthquake there a few years ago. Teachers are telling us how distressed children are in places like Tewksbury every time that it rains. And there is more on the way . . . May the Lord have mercy on all who are living in flood affected regions.

There have been specific warnings that the Lord would change our weather patterns as part of the whole way in which we have allowed a flood of unrighteousness to prevail in our society.

That is of no comfort to those directly affected by the encroaching waters, but it is something for us to remember and bear in mind behind the scenes. There is every reason what the Lord’s patience should be running very thin with us.

References in the secular press this week to floods of biblical proportions refer purely to their size – not to the reasons behind it. Read more . . .

May the Lord have extreme mercy on those living in the along the reaches of the Severn and Thames, as well as in the Somerset levels.

A friend played a beautiful track by Carol’s husband Gareth, from Deep Calls to Deep, the second of the Chrism set of CDs in church on Sunday as we divided into groups to pray about the floods. May we recommend this to you? The music is extremely beautiful in itself – but why not also harness it in your home groups or churches to pray, whether for floods or other topics?

Iona, the Africa Mercy and CBBC on Tuesday 18th February
The BBC have recently been on board the Africa Mercy ship. where our dear friends Rob and Anne Cairncross have been serving faithfully for MANY years They have filmed their daughter Iona for an episode of a CBBC show called, My Life. This features her life on board ship and focuses in particular on a friendship she made with one of the patients, Grace, who had a huge tumour removed from her jaw. The show airs in the UK next Tuesday, 18th Feb. (There is also a photo of Iona and Grace in this week’s Radio Times).

Anne writes: We are privileged to be part of a voice for people like Grace to such a large audience. Please share this news with your friends, not to promote Iona but rather the work of Mercy Ships who speak so eloquently on behalf of the forgotten poor.
