Antidotes to Grief

When you are feeling overwhelmed:
Don’t be bewildered or surprised when you go through the fiery trials . . . The more we undergo sufferings for Christ, the more He will shower us with His comfort and encouragement.
1 Peter 4:12, 1 Corinthians 1:8-9, 2 Corinthians 1:5 LB

Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared.
Proverbs 3:25-26

You heard my plea: “Do not close your ears to my cry for relief.” You came near when I called you, and you said, “Do not fear.”
Lamentations 3:5-7

You will be secure because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety. You will lie down, with no one to make you afraid.
Job 11:18-19

When you are feeling weak and insignificant:
Whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please Him.
2 Corinthians 5:9

His Divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.
2 Peter 1:3

Your strength will equal your days.
Deuteronomy 33:25

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain.
1 Corinthians 15:58

When you feel your work is bearing no fruit:
And now the prize awaits me – the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of His return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forwards to His appearing.
2 Timothy 4:6-8

Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord my God, is with you. He will not fail or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished.
1 Chronicles 28:20

When you need to focus your gaze beyond the here and now:
Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.
Isaiah 65:18-19

The Lamb at the centre of the throne will be their shepherd; He will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes .
Revelation 7:17

Look, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of Him. So shall it be! Amen. “I am the Alpha and the Omega”, says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Revelation 1:7-8

I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Revelation 3:11, 21:3-4
